Imperial College London welcomes fourth cohort of Provost’s Visiting Professors
Imperial is delighted to welcome the fourth cohort of distinguished academics joining the Provost’s Visiting Professors (PVP) programme.
The first to begin her term is Professor Ophira Ginsburg, Provost’s Visiting Professor of Global Cancer Equity, who joins the School of Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine. Professor Ginsburg is a Senior Scientific Advisor for Clinical Research at the US National Cancer Institute-Center for Global Health. Her research addresses cancer health disparities and global women’s health, applying methodologies ranging from genetic epidemiology to implementation research.
Launched in 2021 by Provost Professor Ian Walmsley, the PVP programme brings outstanding scholars to Imperial, enriching the community through scholarship, teaching, and research-driven programming.
With a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, the programme is specifically designed to recruit women and academics from Black-heritage and other underrepresented backgrounds. Its long-term goal is to increase diversity within Imperial’s professorial staff, supporting the university’s broader efforts to foster a more inclusive academic environment.

Provost’s Visiting Professors (PVP) Fourth Cohort
Professor Suhair Sunoqrot
Provost’s Visiting Professor of Nanomedicine, hosted by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences
Professor Suhair Sunoqrot is Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, in Amman, Jordan. Until recently, she served as Head of the Department of Pharmacy at the university’s Faculty of Pharmacy.
Her research focuses on drug delivery and nanomedicine, with expertise in formulating and characterising nanomaterials for biomedical applications such as cancer and inflammation.
Professor Sunoqrot is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Samia Mango Award for Distinguished Researchers (2023) and the Ali AlQerem Prize for Excellence and Innovation – Distinguished Researcher in Health Sciences Track (2022). She is an elected Young Arab Affiliate of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) (2021–2026), and a member of the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) (2019–2024).
Professor Nosipho Moloto
Provost’s Visiting Professor of Nanotechnology, hosted by the Department of Materials, Faculty of Engineering
Professor Nosipho Moloto holds the South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI) in Energy Materials at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, South Africa. She also serves as Director of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Materials, Energy & Nanotechnology, based at Wits.
Her research focuses on nanoscience and nanotechnology, with the aim of synthesising novel nanomaterials, understanding their chemistry, and applying them in water, energy, biomedical, and sensor applications.
Professor Sefa Awaworyi Churchill
Provost’s Visiting Professor of Economics, hosted by the Department of Economics and Public Policy, Imperial Business School
Professor Sefa Awaworyi Churchill is Professor of Economics and Director of the Centre for International Development at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University, Australia.
An applied economist, his research addresses environmental economics, development, and energy economics. His work contributes to policymaking on sustainable futures, just transitions, energy efficiency, and investment in renewable energy sources.
