What makes a place special? Is it the people? The past?
Imperial College London’s White City Campus will host a unique new mural celebrating the area, and you’re invited to contribute your ideas. The final artwork will appear on the side of Stadium House where the campus meets the local area – but first it must be shaped by Imperial’s staff, students and local communities.
Meet the artists
During workshops held on 5 and 6 November, you’ll be able to meet with artists AYLO and SECA (also known as Hayley and Christian) to talk about what makes White City unique. They’ll respond to your ideas by creating a new, place-based artwork which captures the essence of the local area.
Perhaps you see parallels between your work and the history, heritage and culture of White City, or perhaps your connection is more personal. Whatever you love about the area, come along and share your thoughts, and help shape art that connects with others.

The first workshops (pictured) took place earlier in the summer, giving local adults and young people, staff and students the chance to get involved in the project and meet with artists to discuss what makes White City special.
Showcasing public art
The Stadium House Mural is a pilot public art project for White City Campus. Imperial has a long-term plan to showcase public art on this site, in the hope that original, accessible and thought-provoking artworks will inspire those who live, work in, or visit the area.
Lara Mistry, Head of Public Engagement Programmes at Imperial said the team were happy to be working with artists with extensive experience in community art projects.
She added: “We’re excited to be delivering the first public art pilot for the White City Campus. The mural project builds on a wider programme of work we’re already doing with the local community, from women’s change initiatives to STEMB holiday programmes for families and much more.”
Get involved
Consultation is ongoing, and you’re invited to share your ideas for the artwork at The Invention Rooms in Stadium House, Entrance B, 68 Wood Lane, London W12 7TA on:
