Dr Marina Kuimova awarded two medals at national event at Houses of Parliament

Dr Marina Kuimova, EPSRC Life Sciences Interface Research Fellow, from the Department of Chemistry has won the Westminster medal and the Roscoe medal for the best Chemistry poster in the national poster competition for early career researchers held at the Houses of Parliament on the 9th March, 2009.

Marina presented her work on how maps of intracellular viscosity can be created using small fluorescent probes called molecular rotors.

This research can provide valuable information on how healthy cells function and what are the alterations that occur when cells become stressed or diseased.
