Imperial Centre for Quantum Engineering, Science and Technology (QuEST) members co-organised and attended the UK Materials for Quantum Plenary focused on materials challenges for UK quantum technologies.
The plenary, held on 8 and 9 January 2026 in Manchester, was jointly organised with the Materials for Quantum Network (M4QN) brought together more than 100 representatives from academia, government organisations and industry across the UK.
The meeting explored the critical materials challenges that underpin the UK’s ambitions in quantum technologies. The focus of the event was to look at the future direction of quantum materials research in the UK.
The programme included talks from QuEST members alongside representatives from the UK Quantum Hubs, industry partners and the National Physical Laboratory. A keynote address was delivered by Juan Eng Johnson Goh from A*Star, who provided an overview of the current quantum materials landscape in Singapore.
The two-day event featured active discussion sessions and valuable networking opportunities, many of which are expected to continue beyond the meeting.
