AB - High-brightness supercontinuum sources are of interest for many applications in laser technology. Superfluorescence generation or wavelength conversion, e.g. parametric mixing and/or Raman scattering, are generally used in broadband sources. In optical fibers, ultrabroad supercontinuum generation in the near-infrared has been demonstrated using cascaded Raman conversion of high-power pulses from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. In the present paper, a novel passively Q-switched Ytterbium-doped fiber laser generating a supercontinuum Raman spectrum is reported.
