About Me
Jasmine Ajaz. I'm a fourth-year undergraduate student at Imperial. Technically a former student, as I just handed in my thesis and finished my exams. So, I'm physicist!
My Role Model - Fay Dowker
It is definitely inspiring to actually be taught by female lecturers like Fay Dowker. She is globally renowned in her field and an excellent teacher. I wasn't explicitly taught by a woman until second year (and second term at that!) and as an undergraduate it really makes a big difference to sense of belonging within the cohort, to have diversity amongst the lecturers. To be able to interact with such a trailblazing researcher was a great privilege. Representing diversity of all kinds amongst teaching staff is very important, it's one thing to get marginalised students to attend your university, you also need to keep them there by making sure they feel they belong!
