MSc Conservation Science and Practice

“My undiagnosed dyslexia made my undergraduate course challenging but volunteering with African Parks made me realise that I can achieve something really meaningful if I choose the right programme”

Studying at Imperial

I chose the Conservation and Practice programme because of the practical elements and the field work. However, I was still finding lectures hard, and everything seemed to be taking me longer than my peers, so I went to the Disability Advisory Service for screening for Specific Learning Difficulties. I was identified as having dyslexia, dyspraxia and characteristics of ADHD, which apparently is quite common. The support I got from DAS has been a game changer for helping my studies. Watch the video below to hear me talking about the support available.

What comes next

As a one-year master’s student there is not much time to work out the next steps but having study support has made it easier for me to find time to apply for jobs with NGOs and conservation charities.
