Kemp Porter Buildings is our newest halls of residence, located in North Acton. Comprised of almost 600 bespoke student rooms arranged in cluster flats each with its own kitchen - and complimented by dedicated common room areas and outdoor spaces. Rising to 30 storeys, many kitchens and bedrooms enjoy spectacular views of central London and beyond. Located only a two minute walk from North Acton station (Central Line), Kemp Porter Buildings enjoys proximity to other student developments across North Acton as well as easy transport links to campus.

About Benji
Hello! I’m Benji, the Warden on C15. Originally from the tiny European island of Malta, I have a background in Biology and Chemistry. I completed my PhD in Chemistry here at Imperial, and I’m now a Physical Chemistry Teaching Fellow in the Department of Chemistry. I’ve been a part of the Warden team at KP for a few years, and I’m dedicated to ensuring our community is welcoming and supportive for all residents. In my free time, you’ll likely find me enjoying a good book, sipping on a cup of tea, or heading out for a long hike—ideally all in the same day!

Hi everyone and welcome to Kemp Porter Buildings, one of the biggest halls at Imperial! I am Sijia, one of your wardens here. Along with Benji and our assistant warden Katlo, we oversee the wardening team and hall seniors to ensure a safe and inclusive environment. During your stay, the wardening team will try our best to provide you with support in not only social activities, but also in pastoral and welfare.
This is my 14th year at Imperial. I am currently working as a Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery & Cancer, studying nutrient deprivation in ovarian cancer (aka. how to starve cancer cells to death). In my spare time, I enjoy reading about history, watching movies, and I am currently training for my first marathon in life. Looking forward to meeting you all! -

Hello and welcome to Imperial! I'm Katlo, the Assistant Warden at KP. I work closely with the Wardens Sijia and Benji to support the fantastic team of Sub-wardens and Hall Seniors at KP, generally ensuring everyone is supported in theirwelfare needs, but also that everyone enjoys their stay at KP. I'm a Postdoc in the Materials department working on impurity-tolerant alloy design for steels, where I'm looking at making steels from recycled scrap steel and exploring the effects of various impurity elements through advanced microscopy techniques. Outside of work, I enjoy long walks or hikes in nature, watching volleyball and movies. Hope this year is an exciting and memorable one for you, welcome to KP!

Hello everyone, congratulations on your place at Imperial! My name is Katya and I am a third year PhD candidate in Aeronautics, where I study the unsteady aerodynamics of flapping flight (think birds!). I have been the subwarden on C22 for almost 4 years now, and my favourite part of the job is planning all the fun events we have throughout the year for you guys . Like matter, I exist in three (or four?) stat es: running experiments in the wind tunnel , eating lunch in the sun out si de the Union, and planning (and going on) roadtrips . Hey everyone, welcome to Imperial and KP! I am Pablo, the sub-warden on B6. I am from Galicia, in the north-west of Spain, and I have been in London for 5 years now. I finished the MEng in Aeronautical Engineering (Aero) at Imperial in 2025 and I am now a 2nd year PhD student also at the Aero dept. My research focuses on the experimental and theoretical study of turbulence (what makes planes shake sometimes!). I love music, I play the violin and sing in a choir, and I also really like F1 and good coffee! Being an international student myself, I know moving away from home to start uni can feel a little overwhelming, so please do reach out if I can help with anything. Congratulations on getting into Imperial! My name is Avyay and I’m the sub-warden on C7. I finished my MEng in Design Engineering at Imperial in 2025 and am now doing my PhD within the same department. My research is focused on biomining, where I am working with biomaterials and fungi to extract copper from mine waste. I love hiking and gardeningand recently started whittling. Hi, I’m Catherine and I’ll be the sub-warden on C26 this year. My PhD is within the Mechanical Engineering Department, and I research how lithium-ion batteries degrade in extreme cold temperatures. I also did my undergraduate in mechanical engineering at Imperial too. When I’m not putting batteries in a freezer, I enjoy dancing and baking. Hello and welcome to KP! My name is Ella, and I am a sub-warden on C10 this year. I am originally from Aberdeen and proudly Scottish but have spent the last 7 years living in London. I am a final year PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and my current research is looking at how we can analyse wastewater surveillance of pathogens to predict outbreaks. After completing my BSc in Medical Biosciences at Imperial, I went to LSHTM to do an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases. Outside of PhD life I enjoy running and yoga. Hello and welcome to KP! I'm Ricky – the sub-warden on C4. I'm coming up to the final year of my PhD at the Department of Surgery and Cancer where I'm exploring if we can safely use artificial intelligence to support paediatric patients visiting the emergency department. I completed my MD and BSc degrees in Hungary and Master's in Switzerland before coming back to the UK to pursue research. I enjoy cooking and playing/watching football as well as most other sports. Hi everyone, and a warm welcome to KP! I’m Sita, one of the Subwardens, living in C24. I completed my MEng in Aeronautical Engineering here at Imperial last year, and I’m now a PhD student in the same department, focusing on turbulence theory studies through computational simulations and experiments (yes, in a water tunnel!). Outside of research, I love spending my free time in parks, dancing, cooking, and attending studio workout classes - basically all the ingredients for my picture-perfect day!
