What do Frontier AI Research Lab PhD students get access to?

As part of Imperial's Department of Computing, we will host more than a dozen exceptional PhD students who will play a central role role in advancing the Frontier AI Lab's mission  — tackling foundational problems in model training, safety and societal impact.

Alongside a fully funded doctoral scholarship,  successful candidates will work closely with world-leading Thomson Reuters research scientists and Imperial academics. 

PhD students will also have access to high-quality computing infrastructure, dedicated research support, and funding to attend leading international conferences.

How can I apply?

For initial consideration to join the Frontier AI Lab, please send us your CV.  This will be reviewed by one of the lab directors.

If shortlisted at this stage, you will be invited to submit a formal PhD application through Imperial's central application system, as required for all candidates.  Therefore, we encourage you to familiarise yourself with the Imperial PhD application guidelines.

When is the application deadline?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, subject to funding availability. Successful candidates will typically start in October or April, once any offer conditions are met—we look forward to welcoming new students at each intake.
