A pre-announcement: Surgim — the third spinout emerging from Morphlab

We are preparing to launch Surgim in early 2027, building on research supported by the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA).

Our first product, ColonSim, is a platform for training and repeatable testing of colonoscopy and endoluminal technologies.

Our ambition is bigger than building a simulator. We want Surgim to reduce the cost and accelerate the development of safer colorectal technologies. Testing new endoluminal devices can become expensive very quickly. A single porcine test can cost in the region of $25,000.

Our platform approach aims to move substantially more development, optimisation, comparison and benchmarking upstream — allowing device developers to iterate faster and at lower cost before progressing to expensive later-stage testing. For medical schools, it offers a repeatable and accessible platform for training the next generation of clinicians in colorectal procedures.

Our founding team brings together colorectal surgeons and clinical educators James Kinross and Emma Carrington, medical student Isra Sulevani, and designer and roboticist Yukun Ge, who has led the development of ColonSim.

As we move towards spinout, we are opening conversations across the US, UK and China with early-stage investors, endoluminal device companies and clinical leaders who share our ambition.

EvoTouch Ltd

EvoTouch is redefining clinical skills education through immersive soft-robotic simulation.

For the first time, trainees can physically interact with a virtual patient and feel realistic anatomical and pathological cues that are difficult or rare to encounter during conventional training. From diverse patient presentations to conditions such as painful organomegaly, EvoTouch provides repeatable, hands-on learning at scale, helping clinicians develop examination skills and confidence before encountering these conditions in real patients.

Permia Sensing Ltd

Permia Sensing is transforming palm plantation management through AI-powered precision agriculture.

Spun out from research at Imperial College London, Permia combines multiple sensing technologies with AI to provide plantation operators with actionable intelligence from estate level down to individual trees — helping growers detect problems earlier, optimise inputs and increase yield.

The technology is now commercially deployed at scale, with 7,000+ hectares under management and data from more than 4 million trees. Sri Lanka is its most established market, with corporate customers including CBL Group, KAP and Horana Plantations, while Permia is expanding across India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and West Africa and across coconut, oil palm and date plantations.

In 2026, Permia was selected as a winner of the UAE FoodTech Challenge, receiving a $500,000 prize to support expansion into the UAE and wider markets. The competition attracted more than 1,200 entries from 113 countries.

Permia demonstrates how deep-tech research can be translated into a globally scalable commercial platform addressing food security, agricultural productivity and climate resilience.
