Electromagnetics

Electromagnetic methods are non-destructive evaluation methods that use electromagnetic fields—either induced electric currents or magnetic flux—to detect surface and near-surface defects in conductive materials. By measuring how a material responds to these fields, EM methods can reveal cracks, corrosion, thickness changes, and variations in material properties, making them versatile techniques used across many industries. They can also be used to build electro-magnetic acoustic transducers EMATs and can then also be used for ultrasonic testing.
