Project overview:

A sensor is a device, module or subsystem used to detect events or changes in its environment and send the information to other electronics. Sensors are used in everyday objects such as touch-sensitive elevator buttons (tactile sensor) and lamps which dim or brighten by touching the base, besides innumerable applications of which most people are never aware.
In industry applications, sensors also play significant roles in the measurement of many key parameters such as temperature, flowrate, pressure, conductivity. Imperial College London is currently undertaking a 3-year research project, in collaboration with and supported by ABB, to develop a multi-functional sensor. We want to measure throughout all the process environment industrially relevant physical, chemical and electrical properties/information, including data and meta-data.
