Experienced graduates talkingAlumni who graduated more than 3 years ago are welcome to use some of the services offered to existing students and recent alumni, such as the Careers Service Information Room and reference library. Generally we do not offer individual help to alumni who have worked for more than 3 years. This is mainly because the service is resourced to assist new or recent graduates of Imperial College rather than those who are more advanced in their career path.

See below what help and assistance is available. Please see our supporting you pages for the latest information on Careers Service acess and opening hours.

If you are an alumnus of the Imperial College Business School, please contact the Business School Careers for information about their provision to alumni.

The application process

Our 'application process' pages give expert advice on CVs, Covering Letters, Interviews, Assessment Centres, and Psychometric and Personality Tests.

Recruitment

Many employers welcome applications from experienced graduates. Check the employer websites for details of their procedures. Recruitment Agencies and Recruitment Consultants or Headhunters can be helpful in your job search. Look at the local Yellow Pages or search them online at Yell.com to find smaller employers in a particular location.

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation is the professional body representing the private recruitment industry in the UK, and has a geographically searchable database of recruitment consultancies in the UK.

Networking

Networking is often a useful tool in developing your career. Many jobs are not advertised so networking can put you in touch with this hidden job market. Finding a contact with knowledge about an industry, company or job can save valuable time and increase your understanding of the post that you are applying for.

Alumni associations are a great way to meet new people and provide their members with plenty of opportunities for networking. Imperial has alumni associations all over the world who will be pleased to welcome you.

You can also network online using the Alumni Office’s Professional Networking Directory. The Directory allows you to search for, and contact, fellow Imperial alumni who have volunteered to provide professional advice based on their own personal experience. Sign up for Imperial Alumni access.

If you have any questions about alumni associations or the Professional Networking Directory, please contact the Alumni Office directly.

Some employers target Imperial for experienced Alumni, with several years working experience. Search for vacancies advertised for experienced alumni.
