Level-checking informationDegree credit module options by departmentAssessment guidelines

Imperial Horizons Mandarin modules are offered at four levels, from complete beginner upwards.

Our interactive classes use a communicative approach, developing speaking, reading, writing and listening through pair and group work in class, supported by multimedia resources both in class and via our VLE. Modules are standalone but also prepare students for further language study.

Students should be aware that learning a language takes time and commitment and requires a minimum of 3 hours a week of home study to succeed.

The table below provides guidelines about our module levels and the year groups they are offered to. Please read the module descriptions and, if you are not sure which level to apply for, please fill in this form to see if a level assessment is required — it takes about one minute.
