Imperial’s Innovation: A Design Thinking Approach programme challenges you to adopt a completely new mindset, while equipping you with the frameworks and practical tools to transform your ideas into actionable business propositions. You build the entrepreneurial aptitudes and attitudes to inspire your colleagues and your teams to drive innovation together across every function in your organisation.

This 10-week, online programme fully leverages the expertise and thought leadership of Imperial College Business School faculty, industry experts, and a diverse cohort of international peers. Through live, online sessions, video lectures, interactive activities and assignments, you will build the knowledge, insights, and confidence to:

  • Hone your entrepreneurial mindset and practice innovation
  • Develop viable new business ideas
  • Motivate, inspire and mobilise others while driving cross-department collaboration
  • Deploy transferable skills
  • Develop your own innovation project with input from world-class experts

Who should attend?

This highly immersive, live online programme convenes innovation and change champions from all over the world. Managers and executives join us from a broad diversity of geographies, industries and functions, and are united by their desire to innovate within their organisation, and to empower their teams to innovate. While a technical background is expected, it is not essential.

Anu Wadhwa 11

Anu Wadhwa

Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College London. 

Prior to joining Imperial College, Anu Wadhwa was on the faculty at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. She received her Ph.D. from the Foster School of Business at University of Washington, Seattle. Anu Wadhwa’s research examines patterns and processes of entrepreneurship in established firms, the impact of corporate entrepreneurship on organizational innovation, how entrepreneurial actors make decisions under extreme uncertainty, and how pre-entry experience and knowledge impact post-entry innovation choices and outcomes.

Ileana Stigliani

Ileana Stigliani

Imperial College Business School

Ileana Stigliani is Associate Professor of Design and Innovation at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department. She received her Ph.D. in Management from Bocconi University, Milan. Her research focuses on the cognitive aspects of innovation. In particular, she studies how material artifacts and practices influence cognitive processes – such as sensemaking and sensegiving, categorisation, and perceptions of organisational and professional identities – within organisations.

Sankalp Chaturvedi

Sankalp Chaturvedi

Sankalp Chaturvedi is an Associate Professor (Organisational Behavior & Leadership) at the Imperial College Business School. Currently, Sankalp is also leading the Gandhi Centre within the School. He holds a PhD from the NUS Business School, National University of Singapore. Prior to his PhD, he has a Masters in Human Resource Development and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (India), and a Bachelors in Engineering from RAU, Udaipur (India). The central focus of Sankalp Chaturvedis research is in the areas of  Leadership, Mindfulness, collaboration mechanisms in Teams

Professor Bart Clarysse

Bart Clarysse Bart holds the Chair in Entrepreneurship at ETH Zürich, where he is a full-time professor and visits Imperial College Business School to teach "corporate entrepreneurship and innovation" in its executive MBA and various open and customized executive programs. Before he took his position at ETH, he was a Full Professor of Entrepreneurship at Imperial College. He is a founder of several high tech start-ups in businesses such as digital cinema, mobile internet, and venture incubation. Following his Phd studies, Bart was an advisor in technology policy at the European Commission and he still consults on innovation and technology matters for various European governments and agencies. He has over 50 publications in the field of high tech start-ups and managing the growth of these companies and has been an executive teacher for several corporates such as KLM, Belgacom, Panasonic, EDF, BP, BT, Finmechanicca, and Leo Pharma in corporate venturing and innovative turnaround strategies.

Marc Gruber

Marc Gruber

Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne

Marc Gruber has been named among the five most influential researchers worldwide in entrepreneurship research. He has held several visiting scholar posts at the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the theoretical study of the fields of entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, innovation, and strategic management. Marc Gruber created the Market Opportunity Navigator, a tool that supports firms in market opportunity identification and exploitation. The tool is used by more than 50,000 companies and has been adopted as the 4th tool in the lean start-up tool-set.

Richard Watson

Richard Watson

Imperial College Business School

Richard Watson is Imperial's first Futurist in Residence, having joined Imperial College London late last year. He works with the Imperial Tech Foresight team, which helps the College’s corporate partners think about the trends and technology that will shape their future business. Richard Watson is the author of five books about various aspects of the future (including one about the scenario process), having previously been a blogger on innovation for Fast Company magazine and written for Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies and Mckinsey & Company. He is the author of Future Files and publisher of What’s Next, a website documenting global trends, future risks, and opportunities.
