ABSTRACT
Information Retrieval is a well-established academic field which has largely focused on the problem of finding relevant documents in response to a short textual query. However, many day-to-day search tasks in enterprise and consumer search are people-centric and have to deal with additional complexities around text matching, authority and context which have not been well studied. This talk will summarize the issues and how information retrieval and machine learning can help.
