Lab rules and regulations 2022

1. Users are expected to respect the lab environment as a place of work/study and to conduct themselves with consideration to both staff and other users.

2. If labs are booked, you will not be able to use them without the permission of the tutor. Please check the room bookings timetable.

3. Remember to log out before leaving your machine for more than 15 minutes or it may be shut down. If you need to leave for a few minutes, e.g. to print, then remember to lock your machine.

4. Please check with CSG or the L&T staff before you download any personal software, to ensure that it is permitted and in line with College regulations.

5. Personal belongings should not be left unattended or used to reserve seats. For safety reasons, please ensure that exits and passageways are left free. Unattended items may be removed. Please remember to take your belongings with you when you leave.

6. Please use the computer-free desks if you are using a laptop, so that the desktop machines remain available for fellow students

7. Mobile phones may only be used in silent mode. Users should use dedicated phone zones for making and receiving phone or video calls.

8. Reasonable personal use of the lab resources is permitted, provided such use does not disrupt timetabled sessions or other users.

9. Food consumption is not permitted in the lab for hygiene and health & safety reasons; please use College-designated eating areas. You will be asked to leave if you do bring food into the lab.

10. Water is permitted but, to protect the machines - it needs to be in a container that can be sealed (e.g. a bottle, or a cup with a lid).
