Introduction

High-quality hospital systems are increasingly important to the delivery of population health around the world. Recent events have demonstrated the value of these services, but they have also shown the need to expand quality improvement and management capabilities to maximise long-term value to patients, payers, and governments. Hospital executives are leading the change in these services and there is a need to train them in methods they can use to redesign their services for the delivery of high-quality care.

This course aims to provide the rationale for redesigning hospital services using quality improvement methods. It introduces methods that underpin value-driven redesign and provides hospital executives with strategic insight that they can use in their own setting. The aim of this course is to train participants in the principles for developing the innovative hospital they need to meet their organisational objectives.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will be able to develop value-driven strategic plans for their hospital system using methods rooted in quality improvement.

The course consists of lectures and hands-on practical sessions in which real-world problems and potential solutions are explored. Sessions are interactive and delivered in an executive style.
