As a Department we are extremely proud of our students who have taken part in volunteering opportunities.  Many of them help to run these projects and are pro-active in obtaining funding from various sponsors.  We usually offer financial support to Civil Engineering Student-Led Projects each year.  These activities give our students the opportunity to use their engineering knowledge, often working with students from other disciplines, and have a fantastic experience, as well as doing something incredibly rewarding.  Further information on these projects is shown in the links below.

Engage for Development was set up in 2010 by a team of alumni from the Department. These students had previously been involved in the El-Salvador project and wanted to continue to help developing communities. The not-for-profit company they founded facilitates teams of volunteers with engineering knowledge, to make a difference in such communities by helping to find solutions to problems through technical, environmental and societal means.

The Imperial College Union maintains a list of student volunteering projects. Visit the union website for more information.
