About me:
I’m a third year EIE student (Electronic and Information Engineering), originating from Hong Kong. I moved to the UK for school when I was 13, and have bounced back and forth between Hong Kong and the UK ever since. Outside of my studies, I’m very active in sport, competing in both powerlifting and target rifle shooting. These are both male dominated sports, but that does not phase me at all, because the atmosphere in both of the sports is supportive regardless of who you are, where you come from, or what you look like.
What I love about Computing:
The fact that you can build anything, anywhere!
What being part of the Women in Computing Network means to me and why I joined:
I believe that I can make a difference as co-president of the society, making it more enjoyable to be part of such a male dominated environment, but also increasing the number of minority individuals, as without diversity, we aren’t able to innovate and improve! Over time, I’ve learned to be extremely assertive when I speak in a room full of men, but I hope that one day, those who are not as assertive will have their voices heard too, and I believe I can help accelerate this process.
Who inspires me:
Grace Hopper! She not only built the compiler, but is a well-decorated engineer, regardless of her gender. The fact that she did all of this whilst being one of the only women in the room makes it even more amazing.
