CSG Services

We offer Web hosting for DoC users.

DoC users can create and use hosts on our own Cloud.

DoC staff can have their own wordpress sites.

Gitlab is a Git-repository manager providing wiki, issue-tracking, container registry and CI/CD pipeline features.

Network-accessible file storage for user home directories, local research groups, and to support Departmental administrative functions.

Both daily on-line backups and weekly tape backups of network file storage.

CSG offers a wide range of services to Department of Computing users, including:

Remote access to lab PCs or office PCs using SSH and VPN
Authentication - we manage a Kerberos single-sign-on authentication infrastructure for local users wanting root access, and we use the College Kerberos/Active Directory servers for normal user passwords.
Email - DoC uses the College's central Email service, now provided by Microsoft's Office365 cloud-based system. However, we still feed list-membership information to ICT generated from CSG and the DoC Teaching Database records. Here's a list of all such mailing lists and their current membership.
Databases - database services available for teaching and research use.
Networks - DoC's networks (wired and wireless) are now provided by ICT, here's some information about network provision to servers, desktops, and other client devices.
Desktops - information on support provided for desktop PCs for staff, researchers, and PhD students.
Projects - information on resources for Individual and Group projects.
Equipment loans - CSG loan projectors, laptops are available for loan to members of staff.
Software - access to commercial software at reduced rates.
