Pulmonary hypertension is associated with a variety of diseases. In its rare forms of pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension the outcomes were terrible until the advent of new treatments in the last twenty years. The success of the large international collaborations which have delivered clinical and basic science studies, and clinical trials of outstanding quality this century underline the need for international networking and collaboration by the next generation of scientists and clinicians. This is the starting point for this initiative.
