Dr Patrick Meier, Qatar Computing Research Institute’s Director of Social Innovation, is a crisis mapper and the world’s most foremost expert in humanitarian technology. In this talk he will discuss his vision for the future of this space covering such topics as crowd sourcing, multitasking, big data, data science, open data – and how emerging technologies in these areas are reshaping response to crisis including floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and poverty.

Dr Patrick Philippe Meier is Director of Social Innovation at the Qatar Computing Research Institute
Dr Meier is an internationally recognized thought leader on the application of new technologies for humanitarian response. He previously co-directed the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative’s Program on Crisis Mapping and served as Director of Crisis Mapping at Ushahidi. Dr. Meier has given talks at the White House, United Nations, Google, Stanford, Mobile World Congress, PopTech, TTI/Vanguard and several TEDx’s. He was recently elected a Bellagio/PopTech Rockefeller Foundation fellow.
