Sex and the City: Are we ready for the Post Feminist Era? Lunch with Merlyn Lowther

Merlyn’s executive career was spent with the Bank of England and covered statistical and economic research; foreign exchange, money and gilt markets policy and operations; personnel; and banking. In 1999 she was appointed Chief Cashier, in which role she was the signatory of all Bank of England banknotes. She was the first woman to hold this office.

In 2004 she gave up her executive career to pursue a broader range of interests. She is currently a non-executive director of Schroders plc, an advisor to a property company and a Trustee of two grant-making charities.

Merlyn has a mathematics degree from Manchester University, an MBA from London Business School and an MA from the Central School of Speech and Drama. Manchester University has also awarded her an honorary doctorate. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a Companion of the Institute of Management and a Fellow of the RSA. Her leisure interests centre on theatre and singing. She is married with two adult children.

This event is open to women staff and partners of College staff.
