College Evensong is sung by Imperial’s student Chamber Choir. It is an ancient pattern of evening prayer combining music, words, and silence to create a time for personal reflection and stillness (whatever your faith or worldview). The services regularly use music written by current students and women composers.
The music in the service explores the theme of Light for the festival of Candlemas with music by William Byrd, Johann Eccard, and Charles Standford, one of the founding professors of the RCM. Plus a psalm setting composed by a member of the Chamber Choir.
