System status: OK

Click the link below to access the Blackboard system on which the Physics admissions test and the pre-test survey are hosted.

To login, you will need to enter the temporary username and password that were sent to you by email. Please note that you will need to enter the username in the format username@ic.ac.uk. In some occasions, you may get a 'Stale request' error when you try to log in. In that case, please close the page and try again.

Access Blackboard

When you enter Blackboard, you will need to navigate into the 'Physics Admissions 2024' folder.

There you will find a pre-test survey, which we ask you to complete by midnight on Sunday 4 February. This will familiarise yourself with the Blackboard system and allows to identify any technical issues with your setup early, so that you can address them before the test.

The test itself will appear in the same Physics Admissions 2024 folder on Wednesday 7 February at the time sent to you by email. Do not worry if there is a slight delay, because your test time will be counted from the moment you start the test.

In case there are technical problems during the test, updates and instructions will be posted on top of this page under 'System status'. Therefore, we recommend that you keep this page open in a tab so that you can access it easily.

We recommend that you take the test on a laptop or desktop computer in a quiet room with no other people. If you do not own a laptop or a desktop computer, you may be able to access one at your school or local library. If this is not possible, you should be able to take the test on a tablet or phone, but in that case, we recommend that you access it through the browser rather than the Blackboard app. For details on compatible browsers, visit the Blackboard Help Center

If you are unable to login to Imperial College's Blackboard Learn, it may be due to already being logged on to your personal Microsoft account or another institution (such as your school). To troubleshoot, you can do one of the following:

  • Use an incognito window of your browser (also known as private browsing)
  • Use a different browser to your regular one
  • Clear your browser's cache and cookiesNote: While deleting your cookies may resolve the problem, it will remove your saved settings for sites you've visited.

Alternatively, the following link  will sign you out of all their Microsoft accounts on that browser (please do not click on the link unless you are ready to be signed out as the signout is immediate)*: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/wsfederation?wa=wsignout1.0.
