Atlas will make everyday people management tasks simpler and more efficient for Line Managers. From approvals and contract changes to leave, pay, recruitment and onboarding, many processes will be handled within one system, reducing manual administration, improving consistency, and giving managers better visibility and control.

Key changes for Line Managers

Recruitment

TalentLink will be retired. There will be improved recruitment processes and management in Atlas, including pre-approved positions for raising requisitions, and in-system shortlisting and offer management.

Onboarding

Onboarding is facilitated through Atlas journeys, which guide Line Managers and their new team members through pre-arrival and day-one tasks and activities.

Probation

Probation will need to be actively approved in the system, automatically triggering grade increments. There will be a more streamlined escalation to People Partners where a team member is not on course to complete at mid-point or final point.

Absences

Absences will be managed in Atlas, including for academic staff. You will have a real-time view of your team’s absence and leave balances. Annual leave will be calculated in hours, not days, and can be made across multiple assignments and varying work patterns.

Team view

Team information can be viewed in-system including establishment, filled and vacant positions; as well as viewing assignment information for a team member. Some changes can be made in-system, including contract changes.

Contract changes

Contract changes can be initiated in Atlas by the Line Manager (or department administrator) and managed in-system, e.g., changes to a team member's working hours. Impacts on absences or payroll are automatically updated.

Expenses

Expenses will be submitted and managed through Atlas. The process is simplified - your team members can submit expenses on the go, even via mobile phone, ready for your approval.

Approvals

Approval routing will be more consistent and primarily based on Positions rather than individuals. Email approvals won’t be needed as everything will be tracked in Atlas.
