Adopt sustainable lab practices
Laboratories are one of the biggest contributors to Imperial’s environmental footprint, so improving how they operate with sustainability in mind is essential.
What you can do:
- Learn what good sustainability looks like in your lab – connect with your colleagues, departmental lab sustainability lead and peers in other parts of the university
- Find the most suitable sustainability accreditation scheme for your type of lab
- Apply to the Sustainable Lab Kit Fund
- Shut fume hoods, switch off equipment and taps when not needed, and only use the materials you need.
What we’re doing:
- We’re aiming for world-class sustainability practices in all our labs. By driving up engagement in our lab sustainability programmes, we’re helping teams protect revenue from climate-conscious funding bodies, strengthening Imperial’s research excellence and contributing to a more sustainable research environment for everyone.
