The College and the Wellcome Trust have established a fund to support our researchers to stimulate interdisciplinary research

*There are currently no calls for Wellcome fellowships forecast for 2023 at this time*

The Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) scheme provides Imperial College London with funds to develop and embed areas of mutual strategic importance to Wellcome and The College within and across:

> biomedical science
> population health
> product development and applied research
> humanities and social science
> equality and diversity
> public engagement and creative industries.

A range of schemes are available to connect our excellent research capabilities to address the Wellcome Trust research challenges. To learn more about their research challenges, please visit the Wellcome Trust website.

We particularly encourage applications from female scientists and scientists from diverse backgrounds who are underrepresented in these schemes.

Imperial College London is committed to equality of opportunity, to eliminating discrimination and to creating an inclusive working environment. We are an Athena SWAN Silver award winner, a Stonewall Diversity Champion, a Disability Confident Employer and work in partnership with GIRES to promote respect for trans people.

The College is a proud signatory to the San-Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which means that in hiring and promotion decisions, we evaluate applicants on the quality of their work, not the journal impact factor where it is published. For more information please see the Research evaluation website.

ISSF Springboard Fellowships

ISSF Springboard Fellowships provide flexible funding for up to 12 months for early career researchers who have not yet had an external fellowship application accepted, and can demonstrate they are on track for a successful research career. For more information on how to apply, please visit the ISSF Springboard Fellowships Webpage.

Multidisciplinary applications are strongly encouraged. We also encourage applications from female scientists and scientists from a diverse set of backgrounds who are currently underrepresented in this scheme.

Since the events of Summer 2020 and the Black Lives Matter movement, we are looking to be even more proactive in ensuring all our opportunities are open to all groups as part of the bigger effort to make Imperial a truly inclusive place to work. We are aware this ISSF has not supported many fellows from a Black background, so are proactively trying to increase awareness of this scheme and to attract applications from a broader pool of people. Therefore, we want potential PIs to keep this in mind, so if you work with researchers; collaborators from a different discipline; or external to Imperial, this is an ideal an opportunity to encourage them to stay at, or join, Imperial.
