Centre for Cleantech Innovation at the Grantham Institute – Climate Change and Environment, Imperial College London

Imperial College London’s Centre for Cleantech Innovation (CCI) has been set up to support start-ups seeking to develop scalable solutions to the challenges of climate change. The CCI developed and now runs the Climate-KIC Accelerator programme in London.

Together with partners at the College, the CCI aims to establish a world-class cluster for innovation and business development, by co-locating start-ups with academia, and deliver market-ready commercial solutions to address climate mitigation, adaptation and anticipation.

Imperial has a long history of success in delivering real businesses and a pipeline of entrepreneurs. The CCI will seamlessly merge learning with practical and tangible enterprise development, all in partnership with the best academics, global corporates and innovative companies. CCI programmes will draw on Imperial College London’s world-class facilities, science and engineering knowhow, business expertise and networks.

The Innovating for Sustainable Development Programme

The Innovating for Sustainable Development Programme is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and run jointly between the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet (Imperial) and SCENARIO (Reading) Doctoral Training Partnerships.

It uses the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as a framework to explore and come up with solutions to global environmental challenges. The programme is made up of two residential courses, three day-long workshops and this celebratory showcase event.

Programme participants are PhD students from a range of institutions including Imperial College London, University of Reading, Kings College London, UCL, Royal College of Art and University of Surrey.

Climate-KIC

The Climate-KIC Programme run out of the Imperial College Centre for Cleantech Innovation is an open-ended start-up accelerator, aimed specifically at businesses that will have a climate change impact. It offers early stage entrepreneurs access to one on one coaching with experience professionals, business masterclasses, a free incubator work-space and equity-free grant finance. Above all, it provides the opportunity to be part of the largest clean-tech incubation community in the world.
