PhD recruitment event 2026

The ELECTROCHEMICAL SCIENCE and ENGINEERING group at Imperial College London is running a PhD recruitment event for 2026.

If you would like to be considered for support for a range of scholarships, including the Presidents Scholarship, and many more, then please submit an application by Sunday 11th October. A later round will also be considered if you miss this date.

If you already have a scholarship and would like to consider our group, then please apply in exactly the same way.

We are chemistry agnostic and work on

  • Lithium-ion;
  • Lithium-metal;
  • Solid-state;
  • Sodium-ion;
  • Lithium sulfur;
  • and many more.

The candidate should have:

  • Master degree in Engineering, Physics or Maths or a closely related discipline.
  • Cell level/battery experience desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent English oral and written skills.
  • Ability to organise own work.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Eligible to conduct a PhD at Imperial College London (this will be subject to registry checks).

The process

  • A few weeks after the closing date, candidates will be informed if their application will be taken forward or not.
  • If your application is taken forward, then we will be in touch to discuss which scholarships or funding opportunities you might be eligible for.
  • At an appropriate stage of the process there will be formal interviews and assessments, and candidates will also need to apply officially to have their qualifications and eligibility checked by registry.
