This course presents the new AdvanceHE’s Professional Standards Framework (PSF2023) which outlines the Areas of activity, Core knowledge and Professional values that you should demonstrate and evidence in your AdvanceHE application.
In preparation for the live session, you will need to complete some simple tasks in your own time (duration: about 1 hour).
During the live session, in the first part we will review the requirements for Associate Fellowship (AFHEA, Descriptor 1) and Fellowship (FHEA, Descriptor 2) applications and explore the application form. In the second part, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your practice, review some examples of reflective writing and consider how to start writing your application.
This course is open to Research Degree Students, Postdocs & Research Fellows.
Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, you will be better able to:
- Describe how your teaching context relates to Descriptor 1 and Descriptor 2 of the new Professional Standards Framework (PSF2023).
- Identify potential examples to evidence your teaching practice against the dimensions of the PSF2023.
- Distinguish between descriptive and reflective writing.
- Begin planning your application for Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) and Fellowship (FHEA).
