There are no further sessions taking place this academic year. Course dates for 2026-27 will be available to book from late September.
This blended learning course is suited for anyone intended to step into research or in the early stages of a research degree. The session will discuss moving into research and how to manage a programme of research, including how to get the most from research meetings and support available.
This course includes pre-course activities to complete before the live course and to engage with during the course: you will receive the credit by participating in all pre-course and course activities.
Pre-course activities (duration about 50 mins) will prepare you for the live session. Live sessions are available on different dates as online interaction or as an in-person workshop (both 3hrs).
Optional post-course activities (duration about 30 mins) are designed to examine support and feedback within your research environment.
This course is open to Research Degree Students.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Identify and clarify your research proposal and approaches
- Develop a plan and structure for your research
- Employ effective techniques for research meetings
- Develop effective techniques for research communication
- Identify sources of support
