The university is closed from Thursday 2 April and reopens on Thursday 9 April

Reception Desks will close at their normal times on Wednesday 1 April and re-open at normal times on Thursday 9 April

Access to buildings, excluding libraries and residential spaces, will have restricted access from 18.00 Wednesday 1 April to 07.00 Thursday 9 April. Access should be limited to those that have operational responsibilities. Department heads must agree on access, and you must adhere to our lone worker policies/procedures.

For emergency access, contact our Security and Community Safe team on 0207 589 1000, extension 4444 internally or through SafeZone. There is all-hours security presence at all Imperial sites throughout the closure period. 

Students who will be on any campus or hospital site during this time are encouraged to download the SafeZone app to connect quickly with the Security and Community Safety team in an emergency or if you require First Aid.

Library opening hours

The Abdus Salam Library and some of our campus libraries will be open during the closure period.  

Taste catering outlets closure information

All Taste outlets will be closed Thursday 2 until Wednesday 8 April (inclusive) with the exception of the Library Cafe (South Kensington), which will remain open from 2–8 April, 10:00–16:00. The Library Café will be closed on 7 April due to fire alarm testing. Loud Bird in the Sir Alexander Flemming Building will be open on 7 April, 10.00 - 16.00.  

Ethos Sports Centre closures (Move Imperial) 

Ethos will be closed from Thursday 2 April until Wednesday 8 April (inclusive). During this period, you can still find a range of courses and playlists to help you exercise via Move Online portal.

Imperial College Union

The Imperial College Union will remain open as normal, FiveSixEight will remain open as normal until Saturday 12 April and will reopen on Friday 25 April. 

ICT Service Desk

The ICT Service Desk will be open for online or by phone ICT support on 2, 7 and 8 April from 09.00 – 17.00.  The In-person Service Desks will be closed for the university Easter closure period. 

Customer Services Centre (Property Division) 

If you need to report a defect or request help, then please continue to follow the instructions on our report or request something webpages

Post arrangements 

The Post Room will be closed at its normal time on Wednesday 1 April (last working day) and the last postal collections will take place as detailed below: 

  • South Kensington at 14.30–15.00
  • Royal Brompton at 14.30
  • Chelsea and Westminster at 09.15
  • White City /Stadium House at 09.00
  • Hammersmith at 15.30
  • Charing Cross at 14.15
  • St Mary’s at 13.00 

The last day for sending internal and external mail will be Wednesday 1 April 2026 and Royal Mail’s last collection from South Kensington will be at 15.15. Hammersmith Campus Post Room will close at 17.00. 

There will be no post services between 2 and 8 April and normal service will resume on 9 April.
