Roger FalconerRoger Falconer obtained his PhD in 1977 and his DSc Eng in 1994. Roger is currently CH2M HILL Professor of Water Management and Director of the Hydro-environmental Research Centre in the School of Engineering at Cardiff University. He is also President of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research.

Roger also manages a range of research contracts on hydro-modelling of coastal, estuarine and river waters, and has published over 400 papers in the field.

He is Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers and has received numerous awards for his work, such as the 1999 Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal and the 1991 IAHR Ippen Award. His computer models have been mounted by over 50 consulting companies and used in over 100 Environmental Impact Assessment studies worldwide, and he is heavily involved in flood risk modelling, including novel approaches to flood hazard mapping.

Roger has been involved in several national and international committees relating to climate change impacts on flooding and has undertaken numerous media interviews on flooding related to climate change.
