Launching in 2026, the Alumni  Board is a new, volunteer-led group of alumni working with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to strengthen ties between alumni, students, and staff. The Board brings together graduates from across disciplines and career stages to support the Department’s mission, share expertise, and help enhance the student experience.

What will the Board do?

The Alumni Board will provide insight, guidance, and support to help the Department build a stronger, more connected community. Board members will:

  • Strengthen engagement between alumni, current students, and academic staff through dialogue, collaboration, and shared initiatives.
  • Support student development, including mentorship, career guidance, and opportunities for industry exposure.
  • Advise the Department on alumni engagement strategies, outreach activities, and areas where alumni expertise can add value.
  • Champion Department priorities, sharing insight from their professional experience and acting as ambassadors within their own organisations.
  • Help shape opportunities such as career panels, networking events, guest lectures, and internship pathways.
  • Identify ways alumni can contribute, from knowledge exchange to potential partnerships, sponsorship, or support for student projects and scholarships.
  • Promote lifelong connection and pride in the Department’s global alumni community.

The Board will meet three times per year and may also participate in smaller working groups focused on specific student or alumni initiatives.
