Robin's research was in the application of artificial intelligence to conceptual bridge design and in his early career, worked in motorway construction in the northwest of England.

Since then, Robin has had an illustrious career spanning over 3 decades and several continents and has worked on many of the world's record-breaking bridge projects.

In 2011 he was conferred the highly prestigious Fellowship of the City and Guilds of London Institute (FCGI) for outstanding contribution to the field of civil engineering and in honour of his outstanding professional and personal achievements at the highest levels of responsibility and influence. He is also the recipient of the Institution of Civil Engineers (London) 2013 Gold Medal for sustained contribution to civil engineering of signature magnitude and stature.

Robin is currently Global Long Span and Specialty Bridge Director of AECOM.
