Consultants (Novation)

At the start of Stage 4 appropriate consultants will be novated to the Main Contractor when the main construction contractor is in place.

Three copies of the completed Novation Agreements, including fee proposal, will be issued by the Category Manager (Construction).

The Novation Agreements shall be signed by Imperial, the consultant and the contractor with one copy being retained by each party. This is managed by the Category Manager (Construction).

In line with services described in the Consultants Core duties document and responsibility matrix, novated consultants are responsible to the contractor for the final validation of the Stage 3 developed design and the production of the Stage 4 technical design information up to and including fully coordinated plans/elevations/details and specifications to a standard sufficient to enable sub-contractors to produce installation/fabrication/builders work drawings.

Main Contractor

During this Stage, the Main Contractor is responsible for the final validation of the Stage 3 developed design and the production of the Stage 4 technical design information up to and including fully coordinated plans/elevations/details and specifications to a standard sufficient to enable sub-contractors to produce installation/fabrication/builders work drawings. Design changes at this Stage are a variation against the main contract and may have cost and programme implications.
