Information on Data Software and Guidelines
The space database Pythagoras is available to Imperial staff. It enables the user to view floor plans and data at room level to campus level. It is possible to search by occupancy, use and category of space, across all campuses.
Please contact the Space Manager if you would like any assistance with the database. Further training can also be provided.
Space planning guidelines
To aid efficient use and equitable allocation of space, a set of Space planning norms (pdf) was developed and approved for use at Imperial for the purpose of planning space.
These standards should be used to calculate net areas required for planning new construction or designing renovated spaces.
Where inflexible existing spaces mean that space standards cannot easily be met, it is expected that the allocation should meet the Space planning norms (pdf) as closely as possible within the constraints, with the exception of any solution resulting in a failure to comply with obligations under legislation.
