The employment of staff from overseas enhances the experience of all those who work and study at the College. As an employer and sponsor we must fulfil our responsibility by ensuring that the staff we employ have the right to work in the UK before they start work and during their employment.
These webpages are designed to provide information to both current and prospective international staff and guidance for our managers when recruiting such staff. This guidance includes the process to follow when appointing someone who needs to obtain permission to work in the UK and the ongoing responsibilities throughout that individual’s employment. If you require specific advice, please contact the Compliance team.
Adherence to this guidance will make for a smooth recruitment process and ensure the College’s continued legal compliance.
Tier 2 recruiters’ guidance
Prior to advertising a vacancy, consideration should be given to whether the job may attract candidates from outside of the EEA. If so and the selected candidate requires Tier 2 sponsorship, you will need to ensure that specific requirements have been met in order for a Certificate of Sponsorship to be issued.
Right to work in the UK
We have a legal obligation to ensure that all prospective employees and casual workers have the right to work in the UK before they start work and during their employment. These pages provide guidance to managers when carrying out Right to Work checks, and eligibility to work information for individuals.
