The London School of Surgery Training Programme offers practical, lab-based training to senior surgical trainees (ST3–ST6). Some procedures can be practised on animal tissue, typically porcine but occasionally sheep or turkey. However, for a number of key procedures where human anatomy differs significantly, high-fidelity simulated models are essential for effective training.
To address this, the programme collaborates with SiMPEDIA, a spinout company from Imperial College London specialising in the development of advanced surgical simulation models.
