Generating Discharge Summaries utilizing LLMs

iCARE invites you to take part in a study to assess the quality and clinical acceptability of Large Language Model generated discharge summaries and be a named author on a high impact case-study publication. If you are a resident doctor (FY1 or FY2) at ICHT, you can take part!

What is required of you:
The study will require around 15 hours of your time, between now and early October 2025.

1 hour preparation: You will be set up with an iCARE username and password asked to complete a GDPR training course and contact ICT to get your password. You will need to install some software to access our Secure Data Environment. Around 10-15 hours of data analysis, over a 2 month period.

You will log into the secure data environment and use an app to review discharge summaries. You will be presented with 150-180 cases, each with clinical notes and a discharge summary and asked to complete an evaluation survey for each case. Each evaluation takes between 5-30 minutes depending on the complexity of the case.

Equipment you need: Access to a computer with Omnissa Horizon Client installed. You can do the analysis on a personal computer or an ICHT trust device.
Timelines we expect: We need to complete the study by mid-October 2025. You must be able to commit to around 15 hours of time between now and then.
Publication: We will be submitting a manuscript on this case study in early 2026, by completing your assigned cases, you will be a named author on the high-impact article. Names of doctors taking part will be in the order that the assigned cases are completed.
