The STAR Framework is Imperial's Advance HE accredited provision, including courses, academic programmes, workshops and consultancy, for all Imperial College staff who teach and/or support learning in order to gain recognition for the educational aspects of their role at Imperial.

Advance HE is the national body championing teaching excellence in Higher Education.

What is STAR and fellowship recognition?

The STAR Framework is Imperial's pathway to applying for Advance HE fellowship recognition, facilitated by the Educational Development Unit.

For referees

Referees provide a short peer review supporting a STAR applicant’s teaching and learning contributions. References should comment on recent achievements and align with the PSF (2023) descriptors. Templates are available to guide your submission.

For GTAs and UTAs

GTAs and UTAs can gain recognition for their teaching contributions through the STAR Framework. Training and support are available to help you reflect on your teaching practice and work towards professional recognition, such as Associate Fellowship (AFHEA).

Ready to submit? Use the apply now button to access the STAR SharePoint and upload your completed application form and reference documents. Once submitted, your application is checked by admin and reviewed by a panel.
