Why it's important

Using student card to get a laptop

Your identity card is a key feature of life at the College.

It has a number of really important functions:

  • access to your department and your hall of residence
  • membership of the Library and the sports centre
  • discounts on-campus catering and locations across London
  • security – it tells us who people are and helps us to keep everyone safe

Lost your card?

Report this as soon as possible to the Security Office.

Find them on Level 1 of the Sherfield Building at our South Kensington Campus.

If you uploaded a photograph

If you've done this as part of the registration process, you will get your ID card from your Warden on arrival or at your safety talk.

Make sure you upload a photo on the online application system before your course start date. After this, you will have to get one taken in-person.

If you didn't upload a photograph

You will be issued with a guest card by your Warden which is only valid for a limited time.

To obtain a fully College ID card, go to the ID Card Office. Find this on Level 1 of the Sherfield Building, next to the HSBC cash machine. Here you will have your picture taken.

If this happens during Week One, your ID will be sent to your departmental administrator. You will receive it at your departmental safety talk.

If you arrive after Week One, you will need to go to the ID Card Office to have your photo taken. You will then be issued with your card immediately after having your photo taken.
