Dear colleagues,

I hope that you have settled back into the term after the festive break. Of course, Imperial never fully closes. I would like to thank all colleagues who worked over the holiday season to keep Imperial running. I enjoyed reading some of their stories online.

Looking to the year ahead, we will continue to evolve and deliver the initiatives laid out in our strategy, Science for Humanity. In the coming months, this will include launching our Institute of Lifelong Learning as well as setting out the latest on sustainability, scholarships and much more. Myself and other members of our University Management Board will keep you updated on these and other developments.

Here are a few dates and information for the term:

  • First, please do join me for my 2026 President’s Address, which will be held on Wednesday 11 March. You can now register to attend the event at our White City Campus. Like previous events, this is a chance to hear from me on Imperial’s opportunities in the year ahead.
  • Our regular In Conversation events will also continue this year, but with a new twist. In addition to hearing from myself and our Provost and Deputy President, Professor Peter Haynes, each of our Deans will host sessions through the year. Yesterday Professor Nigel Brandon led a panel discussing research, teaching and enterprise within the Faculty of Engineering, with a focus on cross-faculty initiatives and collaborations.
  • On Wednesday 21 January our Registrar and University Secretary, Richard Martin, will host a Professional Services session on our journey to select a new Learning Management System. Our plan is to make this available for our students and learners for the next academic year.

Wishing you all the best for 2026.

Best wishes,

Hugh

Professor Hugh Brady, President
