Legal Director (University & Regulatory)

Nicola began her legal practise as a criminal defence barrister and later joined the Government Legal Service in 1999 where she held posts at the Office of Fair Trading (now Competition and Markets Authority), as a Consumer Affairs lawyer and as a Senior lawyer, at the Independent Police Complaints Commission (now Independent Office for Police Conduct) and at the Ministry of Defence. She also has experience of working on large scale investigations having gained extensive experience of working on public inquiries, based in Northern Ireland, notably the Bloody Sunday Inquiry, as well as those on the mainland, including the Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the press. Having expanded her practice to the Higher Education sector in 2018, she joined Imperial in 2023.
