AB - The present invention relates to a rep plasmid comprising at least one long adeno-associated virus replication protein coding sequence encoding at least one long functional rep protein, at least one short adeno-associated virus replication protein coding sequence encoding at least one short functional rep protein, and at least one heterologous element, wherein following translation the at least one heterologous element results in a ratio of long adeno-associated virus rep protein to short adeno-associated virus rep protein of about 1:5 to about 1:5000.
