We’ve just launched monthly 20-minute 1:1 research sessions for radiographers — your chance to speak directly with an experienced researcher about your questions, ideas, or projects.

Sessions are free, held online at lunchtime, and slots are offered first come, first served. Full details & booking info here.

NIHR 'Is a career in research for me?' annual conference

23 March 2026, Etc. venues, Manchester
This day-long event is aimed at students and recent graduates interested in research, and will enable them to learn more about engaging with and getting involved in health and care research.
The event will cover:
• interactive sessions with discussion leaders and workshops
• an introduction to research careers from those new to research, plus talks on why research matters, and demystifying research
• opportunities to engage with wider stakeholders through stalls available at the event
• the chance to meet other attendees and learn from researchers at a range of career stages

This event is open to any students or recent graduates from all professions and backgrounds within NIHR remit

Research in Emergency Care Avon Collaborative Hub (REACH)

Are you a mid-career researcher in urgent and emergency care?

Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) can be defined as unscheduled health or care needs requiring a same day response. REACH brings together academic organisations, health and social care providers and planners in a coordinated endeavour to prioritise, initiate, direct, build and strengthen UEC research. REACH acts as a repository of expertise to guide and support the development of high-quality research with the potential to change policy and practice and to have an impact on patient care. Our portfolio includes work on reducing inequalities relating to UEC and we foster multiprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration. REACH provides support for researchers at all career stages: from those starting out, through doctoral studies and for established researchers looking to develop and deliver on grant funded projects.

Developing Research Leaders (Cohort 2)

This funding opportunity supports nurses, midwives and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to develop as research leaders and build research capacity.

A 3-year funded programme providing protected time to lead research capacity building and strengthen research culture across health and care.

You will become an ambassador for research within your organisation, exploring practical ways to support other nurses, midwives and AHPs to get involved in research, align activity with organisational priorities, and develop and lead initiatives that improve health and care services through research. You will also join a collaborative community of Developing Research Leaders to support shared learning.

Health and Care Professionals Internship Programme

The Internship programme is designed to help health and care professionals get more involved in research, develop skills in delivering it and even lead research projects.

The HCP Internship Programme provides £10,000 for interns to create a personalised training programme.

How to be a Great CI for Clinical Trials

We are pleased to confirm that registration is open for the upcoming How to be a Great Chief Investigator for Clinical Trials workshop in Nottingham in May 2026.

This workshop is designed to support researchers in developing the skills and confidence needed to excel as Chief Investigators (CIs). Participants will benefit from:
- Expert guidance from experienced Chief Investigators with a wide range of backgrounds and specialties
- Opportunities to engage with specialists from Registered CTUs, including statisticians and trial managers
- Interactive activities to explore common challenges and practical solutions
- A collaborative and supportive learning environment

Participants will also begin building their own peer support network. Please note that places are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
