North East and North Cumbria Imaging Academy
The North East and North Cumbria Imaging Academy is one of many regional Imaging Academies across the UK. The aim of the Imaging Academies is to train the multi-professional workforce and provide equity of access to training across their respective regional locations.
The North East and North Cumbria Imaging Academy has a dedicated research section, who aim to increase access to research by providing education, signposting, and support to all sites across the region, providing in person and virtual support to best meet the needs of the region. We also aim to identify and remove barriers to research within local radiology and R&D departments, providing assistance navigating the research pathway for all research interested imaging staff. We emphasise cross-working between sites and help to provide and promote these links, ensuring research is collaborative and not competitive.
Radiography

Radiography is the official peer-reviewed journal of the Society and College of Radiographers and the European Federation of Radiographer Societies.
Radiography promotes evidence-based practice by disseminating high quality clinical, scientific and educational research related to all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic radiography. We publish research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, editorials and letters of international relevance that advance knowledge and encourage innovation within radiography. We welcome radiography research submissions that embrace robust and innovative qualitative, quantitative and mixed method approaches.
Radiography is essential reading for researchers, radiographer practitioners*, radiography educators and student radiographers. We aim to influence clinical practice and patient care by informing practitioners, managers, leaders and policy makers working within or aligned to clinical imaging and radiation therapy services.
* Inclusive of all radiography practitioners including diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers, medical radiation technologists, radiologic technologists, radiation therapists, medical radiation practitioners, sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists.
The Society and College of Radiographers
The Society of Radiographers is the trade union and professional body for those working in clinical imaging, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy and oncology in the UK. The College of Radiographers is a registered charity which promotes imaging and radiotherapy education, research, and innovation. Together, we are The Society and College of Radiographers. As a professional body we set the standards for the profession. In the workplace, we ensure imaging professionals work in a safe and fair environment. As a charity, we ensure patients are at the heart of everything we do.
Registration closes on 23 January 2026. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
