Gareth O’Brien is the Operational Director for the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) Imperial and Partners Hub, where he leads the delivery of a national service supporting health and care research. Gareth works across four leading universities and as part of a national network to ensure researchers have access to expert advice and support systems to develop high quality research projects.
He brings a strong track record in research management and strategic leadership from previous roles at the NIHR Academy, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, and the Scottish Government. Gareth is passionate about innovation, tackling health inequalities, and advocating for social justice - especially for and with communities that have been historically underserved and underrepresented.
